The export of yarn and fabric increased from January to June


From the overall export situation of yarn and fabric, from January to June 2025, China's yarn and fabric exports reached 41.5 billion US dollars, increasing by 2.9% year-on-year. From the perspective of specific products, the export of yarn was 7.46 billion US dollars, increasing by 6.4% year-on-year, and the export of fabric was 34.05 billion US dollars, increasing by 2.2% year-on-year.


The import of yarn and fabric dropped significantly from January to June


From the perspective of imports, China's imports of intermediate goods have dropped significantly. From January to June, the cumulative imports of yarns and fabrics reached 3.35 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 17.3%. From the perspective of specific products, yarn imports were 2.23 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 19.3%, and fabric imports were 1.12 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 15.2%.


The import and export of yarn and fabric declined in June


In terms of export volume, in June alone, China's yarn and fabric exports reached 6.92 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%. Among them, the export of yarn was 1.24 billion US dollars, increasing by 1.8% year-on-year, and the export of fabric was 5.68 billion US dollars, decreasing by 2.9% year-on-year.


In terms of imports, in June alone, China imported 560 million US dollars worth of yarn and fabric, a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%. Among them, the import of yarn was 360 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%, and the import of fabric was 200 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 15.2%.


Textile exports from January to June drove the export of textile and garment products


From January to June, the export of textile and apparel reached 143.98 billion US dollars, increasing by 0.8% year-on-year. The export of textile products was 70.52 billion US dollars, growing by 1.8% year-on-year. Garment exports reached 73.46 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 0.2%. Textile and garment exports were driven by textiles. Among the four major categories of commodities, the export value of yarn increased by 6.4%, and that of fabric rose by 2.2%. Home textiles increased by 0.2%, while the export of knitted and woven garments decreased by 0.2%.


The top ten fabric markets saw mixed performances


Asia is the main market for China's fabric exports. From January to June 2025, China's cumulative fabric exports to Asian countries reached 22.78 billion US dollars, accounting for 66.9% of the total fabric exports. Among the top ten target export markets, six are in Asia. Vietnam, as the largest single market for China's fabric exports, accounts for 15.8% of China's global fabric exports, with an export value of 5.38 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%.


From January to June, in terms of the performance of major export markets, the top ten markets saw mixed results. Exports to Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates declined by 5.3%, 3.2%, 0.7%, 0.7% and 18.9% respectively, while the rest of the countries maintained growth. Among them, Cambodia, Nigeria and Egypt saw outstanding growth, increasing by 11.7%, 37.4% and 21.3% respectively.
